Best software for chartered accountants in India (2026)

Ask ten CAs what the best software for chartered accountants is and you'll get ten different answers, because they're answering different questions — one means the tool that files returns, another means Tally, a third means the system that tells the office what's due on Thursday. This guide settles the biggest decision first: we rank the ten platforms that run the firm itself, then map the full stack around them, from GST and income tax filing to ledgers, billing and documents.

#1: QwikCA (4.8/5) — India-first compliance automation used by 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users. Read the review

How we ranked the best software for chartered accountants

The ranked list below covers one layer deliberately: practice management, the software your firm runs on rather than the software you run for a client. We rank it first because it is the decision that is hardest to reverse — it holds your client master, your deadlines and your team's working habits, and switching it two years later is a migration project. Filing engines and ledgers can be swapped in a weekend.

We scored on five criteria: compliance depth across GST, ITR, TDS and ROC; automation, meaning how much of the recurring work the software creates and chases without a human; ease of use for articles and junior staff, not just partners; value at real team sizes; and support. Verified vendor pricing carries the most weight, and wherever we quote a third-party score we quote its review count beside it — a 4.9 from 13 reviews is not the same signal as a 4.5 from 36. The full method is on our how we review page, and the same scores drive the 2026 rankings scoreboard. 1. 1

    QwikCA

    #1 of 10 — Best overall
4.8 From ₹1,000/year (excl. 18% GST) · unlimited clients on every plan

QwikCA takes the top spot because it removes the most manual work from a chartered accountant's week. Point it at your client list and it auto-creates the GST, TDS and ITR tasks for every client and every period, so next month's work list exists before anyone opens a spreadsheet. GST portal auto-fetch confirms what has actually been filed, ending the "did we file this?" ritual, and the unified compliance calendar fires smart reminders before the due date rather than after it. Client chasing runs over the WhatsApp Business API and templated email; documents arrive through a client portal and mobile apps into an AES-256 encrypted vault; and GST-compliant billing with Razorpay and UPI payment links closes the loop on the fee.

The firm-side toolkit is equally complete: Kanban task boards with recurring tasks and checklists, a client vault and CRM with a lead-to-client pipeline, role-based access with GPS attendance and timesheets, DSC expiry tracking, a UDIN register, and profitability reports that show partners where the practice makes and loses money — on AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit and data residency in India. It is used by 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users — Indian CA, CS and tax practices of every size, from solo offices through mid-to-large, multi-branch firms.

The honest boundary: QwikCA manages the work, it does not compute or e-file returns, so you keep your filing suite alongside it. It is cloud-only with no on-premise install, statutory-audit and ROC/MCA workflow depth runs lighter than in the legacy filing suites, and while DSC expiry is tracked you cannot e-sign inside the app.

    Pros

    • Auto-created GST/ITR/TDS tasks and GST portal auto-fetch of filing status
    • WhatsApp Business API and email automation for client chasing
    • Client portal, document vault and mobile apps for both staff and clients
    • Flat yearly pricing with unlimited clients on every tier, from solo to multi-branch

    Cons

    • No on-premise option — QwikCA is cloud-only
    • Audit and ROC/MCA workflows run shallower than the legacy filing suites
    • Tracks DSC expiry but can't e-sign documents in-app

Plans are flat and yearly (excl. 18% GST), with unlimited clients throughout: Solo ₹1,000 (1 user, 2GB), Starter ₹7,500 (10 users, 5GB), Growth ₹12,500 (20 users, the most popular tier), Scale ₹17,000 (40 users, 10GB) and Enterprise ₹27,000 (60 users, 20GB) — or ₹100/user/month billed yearly, ₹120 billed monthly, as the per-seat alternative. There is a one-month free trial with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee; there is no permanent free plan.

  2. 2

    Jamku

    4.7 From ₹6,500/yr (5 users)

Jamku from Madrecha Solutions is the software chartered accountants name most often when they talk about practice tools, and it holds #2 on substance. The compliance-management dashboard is the feature users cite for staying; task, client, document and billing management are dependable; and its Capterra rating of 4.5/5 from 36 reviews is the largest independent base in the challenger pack. Check two things on a demo: recurring-task automation and notifications run lighter than the tools above it, and features you may assume are included — GST/IT portal sync, the UDIN register, DSC-expiry alerts — sit in Jamku Portal, an add-on priced separately. Our QwikCA vs Jamku comparison maps the gaps.

  3. 3

    Turia

    4.6 From ₹100/user/mo

Turia is the pick for firms whose partners work from a phone. Its compliance calendar spans GST, ITR, TDS and ROC obligations right down to DIN KYC, AOC-4 and MGT-7; WhatsApp and email automation handle client chasing; a DSC register raises expiry alerts before signatures lapse; and the Android and iOS apps talk to Tally and Zoho Books. At ₹100–₹200 per user per month it is excellent value. Note the 5-user minimum on per-user plans, which changes the maths for a one-person office, and that SMS automation is not offered — WhatsApp and email are.

  4. 4

    Finexo

    4.5 From ₹5,999/yr (10 users)

Finexo earns #4 because it automates the part of the year that hurts. It auto-creates GST, ITR and TDS tasks for every client and every period, factoring in each client's QRMP status, and adds ROC/MCA tracking, DSC alerts, versioned document management and an encrypted credential vault. Bulk WhatsApp, SMS and email do the chasing, and flat pricing at ₹5,999 a year for 10 users keeps budgeting simple as the team grows. It carries fewer public reviews than the veterans, and Tally and government-portal integrations were not confirmed in our research, so put both on your trial checklist.

  5. 5

    ERPCA

    4.5 From ₹200/user/mo

ERPCA, built by Woodapple and in the market since 2008, is the established workhorse of this list. Task and billing workflows are its strongest muscles, a client portal keeps clients out of your inbox, and the mobile app ships in nine languages — a real advantage for firms whose staff and clients do not work in English. Integrations reach Tally, Google Drive, Dropbox, Razorpay and PayPal at ₹200 per user per month. Deep GST, ITR and ROC filing automation is not its centre of gravity the way it is for the compliance-first engines, and a few users report data screens loading slowly at peak season.

  6. 4.5 From Partly public

ATOM, from Hyderabad's Vider Business Solutions, is the most security-credentialled option here: ISO 27001 certified, with workflow management, a GST/IT/TDS/MCA compliance calendar that syncs portal data, KYB-style client onboarding, DSC management, recurring billing and role-based access with timesheets. Integrations run from Google Drive and OneDrive to Razorpay, WhatsApp, Freshdesk and eMudhra, and Vider claims 6,000+ users. Its Techjockey score is a striking 4.9/5 — from 13 reviews. What keeps it at #6: there is no mobile app, the complaint users raise most, and pricing is only partly public (₹1,788/user/year excl GST per Techjockey, ₹249/user/month per SourceForge), so insist on a written quote.

  7. 4.3 From Free / ₹2,950/org/mo (billed annually)

Zoho Practice is the ecosystem answer. If your clients' books already sit in Zoho Books, Practice gives you recurring tasks, Workpapers, client document requests, timesheets and billing, a secure self-service client portal on Premium, and WhatsApp and email integration — with a genuinely free tier for Zoho Finance partners. Paid plans run ₹2,950 per organisation per month billed annually for up to five users and ₹8,950 for Premium, plus ₹400 per extra user, after a 14-day trial. Outside the Zoho world the case thins: no native Indian ITR or ROC e-filing, no confirmed mobile app, and zero Capterra reviews so far. Don't confuse the two products — Books keeps the client's ledgers, Practice runs the firm doing the work. See QwikCA vs Zoho Practice.

  8. 4.1 From ₹1,999/yr

TaxAdda is the lean, honest option for a tax-only practice. You get due-date and client tracking, task delegation, time tracking and bulk SMS, WhatsApp and email, priced by client volume — ₹1,999 a year for 100 GST and 300 income-tax clients, rising to ₹6,999 for 500 GST plus unlimited income-tax clients — with unlimited users on every plan. Its best idea is a discipline one: a GST task will not close until the GSTN server confirms the return actually went through. There is no client portal, no native mobile app and no ROC or audit module, so firms that broaden their services outgrow it.

  9. 4.0 From ₹4,999/yr

Quicko Pro, from Zerodha and Rainmatter-backed Quicko Infosoft, solves a problem the rest of this list mostly ignores: getting clients in the first place. It gives a practice a branded storefront with booking, UPI payments, lead capture and public ratings, then tracks the ITR, GST and TDS work behind it, with a document Drive and an AI Sidekick. Plans run ₹4,999 (up to 5 users), ₹9,999 (25) and ₹14,999 (100) a year, plus a 2.5% gateway fee, after a 30-day trial. As a back office it is still shallow — our research found no ROC or statutory-audit coverage, the mobile app is unconfirmed, and independent reviews of the Pro product remain scarce.

  10. 3.9 From ₹9,690/yr

Saral TaxOffice from Relyon (in business since 2000) is the only entry here that both manages the office and files the returns: income tax, TDS and GST e-filing, balance-sheet and audit-report generation, XBRL, client management and MIS reporting, at published pricing of ₹9,690 single-user and ₹13,380 multi-user excl GST. For a firm that wants one vendor and one annual invoice, that bundle earns a demo. It ranks tenth because the practice-management half is the thinnest here: a dense desktop interface, a cumbersome setup, and cloud and mobile access well behind the India-first platforms above.

The full CA software stack

The ranked list above answers one layer. A working practice runs several, and confusing them is the most common buying mistake we see — a firm signs a GST filing suite expecting it to chase clients, or buys a practice manager expecting it to push returns to the portal. Here is how the layers divide, what each one is responsible for, and where to read our ranked guide for it. Vendor names in the last column are examples of who plays in that layer, not endorsements.

Most firms need only three of these eight as separate purchases — a practice manager, a filing suite and whatever accounting package the client already uses. Compliance tracking, billing and document management ship inside the practice layer on every platform in our ranked list, so buying them separately usually means paying twice. The ledgers are the exception: they belong to the client, and you work in whatever they run. Our task management and client management guides break down those two functions if you want to compare them feature by feature.

How a CA firm should buy software in 2026

India has roughly 4.07 lakh CA members and about a lakh firms, some 72% of them sole proprietorships — so most buying decisions are made by one person with no IT budget and no time. Five steps keep it short.

  1. 1. Name the leak, not the feature. Write down the single thing that cost you money or sleep last year — a missed due date, fees never invoiced, an article who left with the client passwords, three days lost to chasing documents. Buy against that, and ignore feature grids that solve problems you don't have.
  2. 2. Fix the practice layer first. It is the decision with switching costs, so give it the demos. Filing engines and ledgers can be changed later with little pain; your client master and workflow history cannot.
  3. 3. Price it at next year's team size, not today's. Per-user plans look cheap at three users and expensive at fifteen; flat plans with unlimited clients work the other way. Check minimum seat counts — Turia's per-user plans start at five — and confirm whether portal sync, DSC or UDIN features sit in a paid add-on, as some of Jamku's do.
  4. 4. Trial with real clients, not the demo data. Load 20 actual clients with their real GSTINs and real deadlines into two shortlisted tools, run them through one full monthly cycle, and watch which one your staff still open in week three. Vendors give you a month free for exactly this reason — use all of it.
  5. 5. Ask the unglamorous questions before you sign. Where does the data live and can you export it? Who picks up the phone in the last week of October? Is there a money-back window? Get pricing in writing, especially from vendors whose rates are not public. Our buying guide has the full checklist, and moving from Excel covers the migration once you've chosen.

Choosing the best software for chartered accountants at your size

A solo practitioner and a twelve-partner firm are buying different things from the same list. Solo and small offices should look at QwikCA's Solo and Starter tiers or, if the work is tax-only, TaxAdda — and our small-firm guide goes deeper on that bracket. Growing firms with articles and staff to manage want the automation leaders: QwikCA, Finexo or Turia. Firms whose pain is the compliance dashboard itself should demo Jamku. Zoho shops start with Zoho Practice, practices building a client pipeline online should look at Quicko Pro, and anyone who wants filing and office management from a single vendor should weigh Saral TaxOffice. If a client demands security certification, Vider ATOM's ISO 27001 status matters. Whichever two you shortlist, the pricing comparison puts every plan side by side before you talk to a salesperson.

Best software for chartered accountants: FAQs

What is the best software for chartered accountants in India in 2026?

For the layer that matters most — the system your firm itself runs on — QwikCA is our #1 pick at 4.8/5. It auto-creates GST, ITR and TDS tasks for every client and period, auto-fetches filing status from the GST portal, chases clients over WhatsApp and email, stores documents in an AES-256 vault and bills the fee at the end, and it is proven across 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users. Jamku (4.7) and Turia (4.6) are excellent, well-regarded alternatives. Filing engines, ledgers and audit tools sit alongside it — see the stack table above.

What software do chartered accountants actually use day to day?

Most Indian CA firms run four things at once: a practice or office management platform for clients, deadlines and staff; a filing suite for GST and income tax returns; the client's accounting package (usually Tally, Zoho Books or BUSY) for the books; and Excel plus WhatsApp for everything nobody has systematised yet. The 2026 shift is that the practice layer now absorbs the last category — the calendar, the chasing, the documents and the billing. Our moving from Excel guide covers that transition.

How much does software for a CA firm cost?

Verified 2026 figures, all excl. 18% GST: TaxAdda from ₹1,999/year; QwikCA flat yearly plans from ₹1,000 (Solo) to ₹27,000 (Enterprise, 60 users) with unlimited clients on every tier; Quicko Pro from ₹4,999/year; Finexo ₹5,999/year for 10 users; Jamku from ₹6,500/year for up to 5 users; Saral TaxOffice ₹9,690 single-user; Turia ₹100/user/month; ERPCA ₹200/user/month; Zoho Practice ₹2,950/organisation/month billed annually, with a free tier for Zoho Finance partners. Vider ATOM, Webtel Web-Edge and CCH iFirm do not publish complete pricing — budget for a sales call.

Does practice management software file GST and income tax returns?

Almost none of it does, and the good vendors say so plainly. QwikCA, our #1, does not compute or e-file returns — it decides what needs filing, creates the task, chases the client, confirms the status from the portal and raises the invoice. Saral TaxOffice is the exception on this list, bundling e-filing with office management. For the filing layer itself, read our guides to the best GST software for CA firms and the best income tax software for CAs.

Is there free software for chartered accountants?

Two credible options. Zoho Practice has a genuinely free tier for Zoho Finance partners, and ICAI's own CA Cloud (cacloud.ca.in) is free for members — we have not completed a full hands-on review of it, so test its day-to-day depth in your own trial before committing the firm. QwikCA has no permanent free plan, but a one-month free trial with no card plus a 30-day money-back guarantee makes a full-length evaluation risk-free. Treat other "free" claims carefully; several turn out to be limited trials.

Does a solo chartered accountant need all of this?

No — roughly 72% of India's ~1 lakh CA firms are sole proprietorships, and a solo practice needs two layers, not eight: one practice manager and one filing engine. QwikCA serves practices of every size and its Solo plan is ₹1,000/year for one user with unlimited clients; TaxAdda at ₹1,999/year is the leaner tax-only alternative. Watch per-user pricing though — Turia's per-user plans carry a 5-user minimum, so a one-person office pays for five seats.

How often should a firm review its software stack?

Once a year, just after the 31 October audit deadline passes and before the next busy season starts — that is when you remember exactly which part of the stack failed you. Re-check pricing (vendors revise annually), user counts, and whether features you paid an add-on for are now included in the base plan. Our 2026 rankings scoreboard is updated as vendors change their offers, and the how we review page explains what moves a score.
