Best CA practice management software for small firms and solo CAs (2026)
About 72% of India's roughly one lakh CA firms are sole proprietorships, and most of the rest are under ten people. Yet almost every buying guide is written for a 50-partner practice. This one is not. We ranked the best CA practice management software for small firms and solo practitioners on the things that decide it at this size — what it costs for one person, whether it charges you for seats you don't have, and whether you will be migrating again in three years.
We stay independent; some links are sponsored. Our scoring criteria are public — see how we review, or browse the 2026 rankings scoreboard.

How we ranked the best CA practice management software for small firms
The relative order follows the same verified scoring as our 2026 rankings — compliance depth, automation, ease of use, value at real team sizes and support, with every third-party score cited next to its review count, because independent review volume in this category is genuinely thin. What changes on this page is the lens. We weighted three things harder than usual: the true cost of one seat and of five, whether a small team can get live without an implementation project, and whether the tool stops working when the firm reaches fifteen people.
Two tools from our main list are missing here on purpose. Vider ATOM publishes only part of its pricing, which is an awkward starting point for a firm counting rupees, and it has no mobile app. Saral TaxOffice is a dense desktop suite whose value sits in its e-filing engine rather than practice management. Both remain worth a look in the full top 10 and the longer best CA practice management software guide — they just aren't the right first purchase at this size. The method itself lives on our how we review page.
- 4.8 From ₹1,000/year (excl. 18% GST) · unlimited clients on every plan
QwikCA takes the top spot here for a reason that has nothing to do with being cheap and everything to do with range: it is built for Indian CA, CS and tax practices of every size, from a sole proprietor to a mid-to-large, multi-branch firm, and it is the same platform throughout. A solo practitioner starts on the ₹1,000/year Solo plan with unlimited clients. The same product, with the same data, runs firms at 20, 40 and 60 users. That is the decision that costs small firms the most money three years later — not the licence fee, but the migration nobody budgeted for. QwikCA is the tool you won't outgrow.
The day-one value is just as concrete. Point it at your client list and it auto-creates the GST, TDS and ITR tasks for every client and every period; GST portal auto-fetch confirms what has actually been filed rather than what someone remembers filing; and the unified compliance calendar sends smart reminders before the deadline. Client chasing runs over the WhatsApp Business API and templated email — which for a one-person office is the difference between an evening of follow-ups and none. Documents land in an AES-256 encrypted vault through the client portal and mobile apps, and GST-compliant billing with Razorpay and UPI payment links closes the fee loop. Around that sit Kanban task boards with recurring tasks and checklists, a client vault and CRM with a lead-to-client pipeline, role-based access with GPS attendance and timesheets, DSC expiry tracking, a UDIN register and profitability and productivity reports — with data residency in India, TLS 1.3 in transit and AES-256 at rest.
It is proven across 2,000+ firms and 5,000+ active users. The honest caveats: it is cloud-only with no on-premise install, statutory-audit and ROC/MCA workflow depth runs shallower than the legacy filing suites, and DSC expiry is tracked but there is no in-app e-signing. It also does not compute or e-file returns — no practice manager on this page does.
Pros
- One platform from 1 user to 60 — no migration when the firm grows
- Auto-created GST/ITR/TDS tasks and GST portal auto-fetch
- WhatsApp Business API + email automation does the client chasing for you
- Unlimited clients on every tier, including the ₹1,000/year Solo plan
Cons
- No on-premise option — QwikCA is cloud-only
- Audit and ROC/MCA workflows run shallower than the legacy filing suites
- Tracks DSC expiry but can't e-sign documents in-app
Plans (yearly, excl. 18% GST, unlimited clients on all of them): Solo ₹1,000 (1 user, 2GB), Starter ₹7,500 (10 users, 5GB), Growth ₹12,500 (20 users, the most popular tier), Scale ₹17,000 (40 users) and Enterprise ₹27,000 (60 users). A per-seat alternative runs ₹100/user/month billed yearly or ₹120 monthly, which is usually the better maths for a three- to five-person office. There is a one-month free trial with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee; there is no permanent free plan.
- 2
Jamku
4.7 From ₹6,500/yr (5 users) (excl. 18% GST)Jamku is the challenger a cautious small firm should look at first, because it is the one with the longest track record and the loudest user base: its Capterra score is 4.5/5 from 36 reviews, the largest independent signal among the challengers, and the compliance-management dashboard is the feature owners cite for staying. Pricing starts at ₹6,500/year for up to five users, so a four- or five-person office lands around ₹1,300 a seat — good value at that size, less so for a sole proprietor who only needs one login. Two things to test on a demo before you commit a small budget: recurring-task automation and notifications run lighter than the tools above it, and some GST/IT portal-sync, UDIN and DSC-expiry capability sits in the separately priced Jamku Portal add-on, which changes the maths. Our QwikCA vs Jamku comparison puts the two side by side.
- 3
Turia
4.6 From ₹100/user/mo (5-user minimum) (excl. 18% GST)Turia is the pick for the practitioner who runs the firm from a phone between client visits. The compliance calendar covers GST, ITR, TDS and ROC — down to DIN KYC, AOC-4 and MGT-7 — WhatsApp and email automation are built in, there is a DSC register with expiry alerts, and the Android and iOS apps integrate with Tally and Zoho Books. The honest catch for this page: per-user plans carry a five-user minimum, so a solo CA on the ₹100/user/month tier still pays for five seats — roughly ₹6,000 a year for one person. At three to five people that minimum stops mattering and Turia becomes one of the better-value options here. SMS automation is not offered; WhatsApp and email are. See QwikCA vs Turia for the feature-by-feature view.
- 4
Finexo
4.5 From ₹5,999/yr (10 users) (excl. 18% GST)Finexo suits the small firm that already feels the compliance load more than the headcount cost. It auto-creates GST, ITR and TDS tasks for every client and period, factoring in each client's QRMP status, then adds ROC/MCA tracking, DSC alerts, versioned document management and an encrypted credential vault. Bulk WhatsApp, SMS and email handle the chasing. The reason it is on this list specifically: pricing is a flat ₹5,999 a year for ten users, which a three-person firm can grow into without a repricing conversation — about ₹2,000 per head today and ₹600 per head once you are ten. It has fewer public reviews than the veterans, and Tally and government-portal integrations were not confirmed in our research, so put both on your trial checklist.
- 5
ERPCA
4.5 From ₹200/user/mo (excl. 18% GST)ERPCA has been in the market since 2008, and its strongest muscles — task workflows and billing — are exactly the two a growing small firm leans on hardest. There is a client portal, integrations spanning Tally, Google Drive, Dropbox, Razorpay and PayPal, and a mobile app available in nine languages, which genuinely matters when your articles and clients work in a language other than English. Pricing is ₹200/user/month, so it scales cleanly with headcount: about ₹2,400 a year for a sole proprietor, ₹12,000 for five. Deep GST/ITR/ROC filing automation is not its focus the way it is for the compliance-first engines, and a handful of users mention data screens loading slowly at peak season.
- 4.3 From Free for Zoho Finance partners (excl. 18% GST)
Zoho Practice is the only genuinely free option on this page — but only if you qualify. Zoho Finance partners get a free tier, and for a solo CA who already runs client books on Zoho Books that is an unusually strong offer: recurring tasks, Workpapers, client document requests, timesheets and billing, plus WhatsApp and email integration. Outside that partner status the price jumps hard: Standard is ₹2,950 per organisation per month billed annually for up to five users, which is ₹35,400 a year — far above everything else here. The other caveats are real for a small Indian practice: no native ITR or ROC e-filing inside Practice, no confirmed dedicated mobile app, weaker fit outside the Zoho ecosystem, and a Capterra listing with zero reviews so far. Don't confuse it with Zoho Books either — Books keeps the ledgers, Practice manages the firm doing the work. Our QwikCA vs Zoho Practice head-to-head covers the split.
- 7
TaxAdda
4.1 From ₹1,999/yr (unlimited users) (excl. 18% GST)TaxAdda is the lean pick for a one-person, tax-only office: due-date and client tracking, task delegation, time tracking and bulk SMS, WhatsApp and email, from ₹1,999 a year for 100 GST and 300 income-tax clients — with unlimited users on every plan, which is rare and useful if you work with a part-time assistant or two. Its best idea is discipline: a GST task stays open until the GSTN server itself confirms the return was filed, so nothing gets ticked off on trust. Plans step up to ₹3,999 (250 GST + 500 IT) and ₹6,999 (500 GST + unlimited IT). The trade-offs are the ones you would expect at the price: no self-service client portal, no native mobile app and no ROC or audit module, so a firm heading past tax work will move on. Its SoftwareSuggest score is 5/5 from just 2 reviews — treat that as a very thin signal. See QwikCA vs TaxAdda.
- 4.0 From ₹4,999/yr (5 users) (excl. 18% GST)
Quicko Pro is here because it solves the problem most new solo practices actually have, which is not workflow — it is finding clients. Backed by Rainmatter (Zerodha), it gives you a branded storefront with booking and scheduling, UPI payments, lead capture and public ratings, sitting alongside ITR, GST and TDS work tracking, a document Drive and an AI assistant. Launch is ₹4,999 a year for up to five users, Grow ₹9,999 for up to 25 and Scale ₹14,999 for up to 100, plus a 2.5% payment-gateway cut and a 30-day trial. As a back office it is still shallow: our research turned up no ROC or statutory-audit coverage, the mobile app is not confirmed, and it is a newer entrant with no independent reviews on Capterra yet. Read it as a client-acquisition front end you may pair with something else, not as your compliance engine.
What each tool costs a solo CA and a five-person firm
Headline prices mislead at this size, because minimums and bundled seats do most of the damage. A plan that looks like ₹100 a month can be ₹6,000 a year if it insists on five seats. Below we have taken each vendor's published list price and worked out the yearly cost, excluding 18% GST, for two real situations: one practitioner working alone, and a five-person firm with a partner, two qualified staff and two articles.
| Software | Solo CA — per year | 5-person firm — per year |
|---|---|---|
| QwikCA | ₹1,000 Solo plan, 1 user, unlimited clients | ₹7,500 Starter, 10 users — or ₹6,000 on per-seat (5 × ₹100 × 12) |
| Jamku | ₹6,500 Entry plan covers up to 5 users; a solo CA still pays it | ₹6,500 Entry plan, up to 5 users |
| Turia | ₹6,000 5-user minimum × ₹100/user/mo × 12 | ₹6,000 5 × ₹100 × 12 at the entry per-user tier |
| Finexo | ₹5,999 Flat plan, 10 users included | ₹5,999 Flat plan, 10 users included |
| ERPCA | ₹2,400 1 × ₹200/user/mo × 12 | ₹12,000 5 × ₹200 × 12 |
| Zoho Practice | Free or ₹35,400 Free for Zoho Finance partners; else Standard ₹2,950/mo × 12 | Free or ₹35,400 Standard covers up to 5 users |
| TaxAdda | ₹1,999 100 GST + 300 IT clients, unlimited users | ₹1,999 Same plan — users are unlimited, clients are the limit |
| Quicko Pro | ₹4,999 Launch plan, up to 5 users, + 2.5% gateway fee | ₹4,999 Launch plan, up to 5 users, + 2.5% gateway fee |
All figures exclude 18% GST. These are our arithmetic from published list prices; confirm with vendors before you buy — tiers, minimums and discounts change, and several of these vendors quote differently on a sales call than on the pricing page.
Read down the solo column and the pattern is stark: the cost of running one seat ranges from ₹1,000 to ₹35,400 for broadly the same category of product, and most of that spread is structural rather than about features. Read across and something more useful appears — the cheapest option at one user is rarely the cheapest at five, and the tools with flat multi-user plans (Finexo at ten users, QwikCA's Starter tier, Jamku's five) reward you for hiring rather than punishing you for it. If pricing is the whole question for you, our plan-by-plan pricing comparison lays out every tier from every vendor.
Choosing CA practice management software for a small firm: a shortlist of two
Don't trial eight tools — you have client work. Pick two against your actual bottleneck. If deadlines and chasing clients are what keep you up, start with QwikCA and Finexo. If your practice is purely tax work and the budget is tight, put TaxAdda beside QwikCA's Solo plan and see whether the client portal and mobile app are worth the difference to you. If you already run client books in Zoho Books and qualify as a Zoho Finance partner, try Zoho Practice first because it may cost nothing. If you are still building a client base rather than managing one, Quicko Pro's storefront is a genuinely different answer — and our guide to starting a CA practice in India covers the rest of that problem.
Then run a real test, not a feature tour. Load twenty genuine clients into each trial, let it generate one full month of GST tasks, send the reminders, and raise three actual invoices. The tool your staff still open in week three is the answer. If you are coming off spreadsheets, read moving from Excel to CA practice management software before you import anything — the migration order matters more than the tool. Our buying guide has the full evaluation checklist, and if your work leans heavily towards return filing rather than firm administration, the best tax practice management software list is the closer fit.
CA practice management software for small firms: FAQs
What is the best CA practice management software for small firms in 2026?
QwikCA is our #1 at 4.8/5, and it wins this page for a specific reason: it serves Indian CA, CS and tax practices of every size, so a firm can start on the ₹1,000/year Solo plan and still be on the same platform as a 40-user, multi-branch practice. That means no migration later. Jamku (4.7) and Turia (4.6) are strong, well-regarded alternatives, and TaxAdda is the leanest option if your practice is tax-only.
What is the cheapest practice management software for a solo CA?
On verified list prices (all excl. 18% GST), QwikCA's Solo plan at ₹1,000/year for one user with unlimited clients is the lowest paid entry point we found, with TaxAdda next at ₹1,999/year. Zoho Practice is free — but only for Zoho Finance partners; its paid Standard tier works out to ₹35,400/year (₹2,950/month billed annually). Watch for minimums: Turia's per-user plans require five seats, and Jamku's entry plan is priced for up to five users whether you use them or not.
Does a solo practitioner really need practice management software?
If you have more than about 30 clients, yes. A sole proprietor carries the same statutory calendar as a 20-partner firm — GSTR-1 on the 11th, GSTR-3B on the 20th, ITR by 31 July, tax-audit reports by 30 September, DIR-3 KYC by 30 September, AOC-4 around 30 October (verify against the portal near the deadline) — with nobody to catch a miss. The software is not there to make you look corporate; it is there so a due date never depends on your memory. Our guide on moving from Excel to practice management software covers the switch, and how to never miss a compliance due date covers the habit.
Which features can a 1–10 person firm safely skip?
Capacity planning and resource cost analysis, multi-branch consolidation, deep statutory-audit modules, XBRL and on-premise deployment. All of these matter — at 25 people and up. At your size they add licence cost and setup time you will not recover. What you cannot skip: a compliance calendar with automated recurring tasks, document collection that does not live in WhatsApp forwards, and billing that actually goes out. Everything else is negotiable.
Is free CA practice management software good enough for a small firm?
Zoho Practice has the only genuinely free tier here, and it is a serious product — but it is limited to Zoho Finance partners and has no native Indian ITR or ROC e-filing. Most other "free" offers in this category turn out to be time-limited trials. If free is the goal, evaluate it honestly against a paid trial: QwikCA gives a full month free without a card plus a 30-day money-back window, which is long enough to run a real GST cycle before you commit ₹1,000.
Will I have to switch software when the firm grows?
That is the main risk with buying purely on price, and it is why we rank QwikCA first here rather than the cheapest tool: the same platform runs solo practices and mid-to-large, multi-branch firms, with tiers from ₹1,000 to ₹27,000 a year and unlimited clients throughout. Tools built only for a small footprint — no client portal, no mobile app, no ROC module — become a migration project the year you hire your third person. Our buying guide works through the sizing decision.
Does any of this software file GST or income tax returns for me?
No. Practice management software runs the firm — it creates and assigns the work, tracks the deadline, chases the client and bills the fee — but it does not compute or e-file returns, and QwikCA is explicit about that boundary. You still need a filing utility beside it. See the best GST software for CA firms and the best income tax software for CAs.
